Mamadou Sakho best player on the pitch for the Reds…
Mignolet – 7
Largely untroubled, and wasn’t at fault for the goal.
Toure – 6
Comfortable in possession, and cleared off the line early on when Liverpool had already taken a two goal lead.
Skrtel – 7
Shines as the central defender in a back three, and was impressive again for the Reds, as he has been all season. Liverpool did concede from a set piece yet again however.
Sakho – 9
The Frenchman was absolutely brilliant at Anfield, and earned his standing ovation when he was subbed off for Daniel Agger late on. Barely misplaced a pass, and wasn’t on the pitch when Palace scored.
Sterling – 7
Deployed in an unfamiliar right wing-back position, but did very well in his first start of the Premier League season. Created more chances than any other player.
Enrique – 8
The Spaniard excels in the left wing-back position because it gives him the freedom to get forward. Did fantastically in the build-up to Suarez’s goal, too.
Henderson – 8
Tireless. Henderson moved into the middle of the park because of Lucas’ suspension, and injected pure energy and dynamism into the Liverpool midfield.
Gerrard – 6
Bagged his first goal of the season from the penalty spot, but did much less good work than his unheralded partner Henderson.
Moses – 6
Effective again in the no.10 role, but lacks the intricate passing ability the injured Coutinho injects into the side. Was quiet in the second half before being subbed off.
Sturridge – 8
The England man took his goal fantastically, turning the Palace fullback inside out before firing low into the corner of the net with his left. Picked up a knock which will worry England boss Roy Hodgson.
Suarez – 8
Scored a typical Suarez goal early on, fighting and battling for the ball in the box before finishing cleverly. Threatened to tear Palace at times in the first half, but eased off in the second half, as did his teammates.
