It’s a make or break moment for Kings XI Punjab in the 2013 IPL season as they know they need a win against Rajasthan Royals to have any realistic hope of making the play-offs.
This may be easier said than done however, as Rajasthan have been in good form of late and they themselves look a good bet to make the top four come the end of the campaign.
Rahul Dravid’s side have won four of their last five matches in the competition, picking up vital wins over league rivals Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
As for Kings XI their inconsistent tournament continues as three successive defeats on the road in 2013 were costly to the franchise.
However, a confidence boosting win over Bangalore in their last fixture will certainly help morale – as a 38-ball century from David Miller helped the side chase down a formidable target of 190 set by RCB.
Miller is certainly the man in form, scoring 352 runs in his seven IPL matches and holding the best average of the tournament at 117.33.
As for Rajasthan they have Australian all-rounder Shane Watson to thank for their good showings with the bat, although youngster Ajinkya Rahane and skipper Dravid have acted as great support in the middle.
The Royals also boast having Aussie seamer James Faulkner in their lines, with the bowler taking 18 wickets in the competition and has the best figures in 2013 at 5-20.
