Lampard lined up alongside Terry for 13 years at Stamford Bridge, but netted for his new side on New Year’s Day to keep them abreast with the Blues in the Premier League title race.
Lampard, Chelsea’s record scorer, was released by the Blues last summer and picked up by City. He will stay with the Blues until the end of the season after delaying his move to New York City in the MLS.
“Lamps has scored so many goals for us over the years. He’s a legend at the club and always will be,” he said.
“He’s doing what he does best and unfortunately it’s in a City shirt, but that’s the decision that was made.
“He’s scoring goals and playing great as always.”
Lampard may now look to extend his deal at the Etihad beyond the end of the season in a move that could anger fans of new MLS franchise New York City FC.
