Jamil Hopoate has become the second Manly player to be sacked in less than a week.
The Sea Eagles confirmed on Thursday that they had torn up Hopoate’s contract after he was sentenced to a minimum of one year in jail for a violent assault.
Last week Manly terminated the contract of Zane Tetevano after his court appearance on domestic violence charges.
Jamil Hopoate, son of controversial former NRL player John, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company on two men outside a Manly hotel in February.
