Olivier Giroud arrived at Arsenal with quite the reputation having scored 21 goals for Montpellier in Ligue 1 last season.

Despite showing the occasional flash of class, the French international has come under increasingly criticism from Arsenal fans in recent weeks, culminating in the player’s poor performance against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Thinkfootball have performed a statistical analysis of Giroud in comparison with a selection of other Premier League strikers and the results do not look favourable for the Arsenal man.
|Goals||Minutes per goal||Chance conversion||Mins per chance created||Final 3rd pass accuracy||Aerial dual success||Mins per loss of possession|
Giroud should at least be thankful that the comparison is not being made between him and the likes of Van Persie, Suarez or Michu.
These statistics certainly do not suggest that Giroud is a terrible player. But it is certainly questionable whether he is good enough to play as the main striker for Arsenal, which is after all the role he was bought for.
While he is certainly more than capable in the air, Giroud does not fit in with Arsenal’s fluid style, and his passing accuracy can make him a liability in a team that likes to play the ball around.
