Ireland boss Martin O’Neil has a number of selection problems ahead of the clash with minnows Gibraltar with Everton pair Seamus Coleman and James McCarthy both missing.
However, another Everton star, Darron Gibson, will likely replace McCarthy in midfield.
John O’Shea could switch from centre-back to the defensive flank while Hull midfielder David Meyler may also be a contender for the right-back role.
Gibraltar are playing in their first campaign in international football and were thrashed 7-0 by Poland in their opening qualifier last month.
Allen Bula’s squad includes several English based players, with Preston North End defender Scott Wiseman and midfielder Jake Gosling who plays for English Conference side Bristol Rovers both set to feature.
The match will be live on Sky Sports with coverage starting at 5pm. If you don’t have a Sky subscription why not grab yourself a NOW TV Sky Sports Day Pass – Pay As You Go access to all 6 Sky Sports channels for the first time ever!
