After conquering Denver, the Indianapolis Colts now head to Foxboro to take on the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.
Andrew Luck overcame Peyton Manning and the Broncos last weekend, but now he must inspire his team to a win over another future Hall of Fame quarterback in Tom Brady.
The Colts have been blown out all three times that Luck has faced the Patriots and as expected they will go into Sunday’s clash as heavy underdogs.
This will be Brady’s ninth conference championship appearance in 13 full seasons while coach Bill Belichick is seeking his NFL record 21 post-season victory as New England continue to set high standards.
A win would also give them an eighth Super Bowl appearance and tie them with Pittsburgh and Dallas for the most in league history, and it is incredible to consider the turnaround after the season started so badly.
“We’re very fortunate to be in this position to have a chance to play in it,” Brady said.
“I think more so than anything, you’re just excited for the opportunity to be able to do it. It’s hard to do and our team found a way to get there this year so hopefully we can take advantage of the opportunity.”
However, Luck leads the NFL with 40 passing touchdowns and he has now guided the Colts to their fifth conference championship since the franchise moved to Indianapolis.
This will be his first appearance in such a game, but given the way that they are clicking right now they will be confident of putting points on the board.
New England have secured three lop-sided wins in their last three meetings with the Colts, and so it would come as no surprise if Brady takes them back to the Super Bowl this year.
