In the second semi-final of the last ever Champions Trophy sub-continental rivals India and Sri Lanka go head-to-head for a place in the final.

The winners will face hosts England on Saturday in the match at Edgbaston that will decide who is crowned overall victors.

India are currently unbeaten in the tournament having cruised through Group B with impressive wins over South Africa, West Indies and Pakistan.

Sri Lanka meanwhile are somewhat fortuitous to be at this stage of the competition, having progressed from Group A after New Zealand and Australia’s match was declared a no result due to rain.

However, in Lasith Malinga the Sri Lankans have a bowler who is utterly lethal in the short-over format of the game and if Kumar Sangakkara can maintain his impeccable form with the bat, the side are in with a chance.

Yet in Shikhar Dhawan the Indians possess an opener of superb ability and raw talent, with the 24-year-old top scoring in the tournament so far with 264 runs at a colossal average of 132.

With such skill on both sides this should prove to be a thrilling encounter as both teams look to lift the trophy that they shared the spoils of during the 2010 tournament.
