Gasol in great form at FIBA World Cup: (Video) Spanish star looks good ahead of new NBA season.
The Chicago Bulls are ready for the new NBA season and unveiled their own ‘Big Three’ at media day on Monday with Pau Gasol joining his new team-mates.
General manager Gar Forman spoke to the media on Monday and revealed that he had three hopes for the off-season, and Bulls fans can be relatively pleased with all three.
Initially he wanted to address the lack of shooters in the team, and he did so in the Draft by acquiring Doug McDermott. Meanwhile, interlinked with that first point, he also wanted to add depth to the roster, which he did with the arrivals of Pau Gasol, Nikola Mirotic, Aaron Brooks and the re-signing of Kirk Hinrich.
Thirdly and perhaps most importantly for some Bulls fans, he wanted to see progress with point guard Derrick Rose as he continued his full recovery from back-to-back serious knee injuries by taking part in the FIBA World Cup 2014.
While the 25-year-old was well short of top form, his ability to prove his health and play in back-to-back games was a big positive, and Forman is therefore extremely excited about what the new season could hold.
Nevertheless, for now Rose, Gasol and Joakim Noah appeared to be enjoying Media Day as they posed for pictures. In the coming months it will be up to that trio and the rest of the Bulls roster to end the franchise’s long wait for another championship as they are ultimately expected to compete with the Cleveland Cavaliers to emerge from the Eastern Conference.
