The NFL has opted to keep the Captain vs. Captain Pro Bowl format for 2015.
The NFL announced that for the second year in a row the Pro Bowl will feature a Captain vs. Captain drafted-team format instead of the traditional AFC vs. NFC format that had existed for decades. The Captains for the 2015 Pro Bowl will be Hall of Fame WRs Cris Carter and Michael Irvin.
In 2013 the NFL established the new system and had Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders as the captains for the team. Team Rice beat Team Sanders 22 to 21.
Carter is fourth all-time in receiving TDs, and receptions. He was an 8-time Pro Bowler and 3-time All-Pro selection. After being snubbed for 5 years, Carter was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
Irvin is the Dallas Cowboys’ all-time leader in receiving yards. He was a 5-time Pro Bowler and 3-time All-Pro and helped lead the Cowboys to three Superbowls in 4 years (’92, ’93, ’95). He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007.
The 2015 Pro Bowl will be played on January 25th, 2015 in University of Phoenix Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona.
