Cazorla, Mertesacker and Rosicky to commit their futures to the Gunners.
Arsenal trio Santi Cazorla, Per Mertesacker and Tomas Rosicky are on the verge of signing new contracts at the club, reports the Daily Mail.
Negotiations with Mertesacker and Rosicky have been going on for some time and manager Arsene Wenger revealed that the latter has agreed a fresh deal following the 4-1 Premier League victory over Sunderland on Saturday.
The Czech Republic international has agreed to a rolling one-year contract, whilst the centre-back is expected to be at the Emirates Stadium until 2017.
As for Cazorla, these new terms will see the Spain international paid £80,000-a-week and extend his stay in north London to 2017 also – with the 29-year-old’s current deal expiring in 2016.
This is great news for the Gunners, who have been struggling to get right-back Bacary Sagna to commit to a new contract, with the Frenchman expected to leave in the summer if nothing is finalised.
All three of the players pledging their future have been instrumental in the team’s success in recent times, with Mertesacker having particularly been a great influence on the pitch.
The German possesses the sort of leadership qualities that would make the 29-year-old a great captain, whilst alongside Laurent Koscielny has helped shore up what was a leaky defence.
Cazorla has been a mainstay in the starting XI since joining from Malaga for £12m in 2012, playing every league match last term and having scored 18 goals and provided 18 assists since arriving in England.
As for Rosicky, although the attacking midfielder is now 33-years-old he still provides superb creativity and work rate.
