Kicker suffers thigh injury as kick-offs don’t pass twenty yards.
Lauren Silberman made history when she attended a regional Combine and became the first female to officially tryout for an NFL team.
However, things didn’t quite go to plan…
When attempting kickoffs to prove her leg strength, she appeared to pull her thigh muscle, causing discomfort and a kickoff that reached just 13 yards.
This was an event that was expected to be an opportunity to see a female showcase her talents to NFL scouts and prove that she is just as able, if not better, than some of the other rookie kickers hoping to be drafted next month.
The injury is unfortunate accident that has hampered her immediate chances. There may be other opportunities for her to attend a pro day of a local college and tryout in front of scouts there. The media coverage and presence of scouts and coaches at this session will not be present next time though, so this can be seen as a huge opportunity missed for the 28-year-old kicker.
