Fremantle has delisted troubled midfielder Josh Simpson after just two seasons with the club.
Simpson made the headlines for all the wrong reasons back in round five after he refused to fly to Sydney as the Dockers’ emergency.
The 20-year-old was also sanctioned by the club in January for failing to meet club standards before he was dropped to the WAFL.
In June, Simpson was ordered to take paid leave of absence to complete a personal development program.
Simpson is believed to have dealing with personal and family issues in his hometown of Yalgoo for a majority of the year.
The two-game player was a first round selection in the 2012 national draft, and his career now hangs in the balance as he must rely on another AFL club to give him a second chance.
Dockers football operations manager Chris Bond said Simpson’s did not fulfil the requirements of the personal development program.
“As we do with all players on our list, we have provided Josh with significant support and resources, including a personal development program which was carefully put together to assist him in dealing with personal and professional matters he faced away from football,” Bond said.
“The personal development program included guidelines and protocols that Josh was required to strictly adhere to. Unfortunately, Josh was not able to consistently fulfil those requirements since undertaking the program in June.
“Josh’s inability to consistently fulfil those requirements and, over a period of time, achieve the personal and professional levels required by the club to succeed as a player at the elite level, has resulted in the very difficult decision to delist him.
“Although Josh has been formally delisted, the club will continue to work with him and his management to provide appropriate levels of support and assistance into 2015.”
Simpson joins Scott Gumbleton and Kepler Bradley as notable departures from the Dockers this off-season.
