Former French midfielder has faith in Arsenal boss.
Former Arsenal star Robert Pires has given Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger his backing according to The Metro.
The former Gunners midfielder believes there is only one person capable of leading the North London club and Wenger is that man.
There have been murmurs of discontent amongst the Emirates faithful after a dismal one win in five games giving fans of the club little to cheer about since the turn of the year.
But Pires believes the Arsenal boss should be given the job for as long as he wants it.
‘For me, I always believe in Wenger. Everyone knows the task is to qualify for the Champions League again next season. The team has been inconsistent this season to do much more. Against Manchester City recently it was very difficult and against Swansea a few days later Arsenal were better but there have been too many games where they are up and down’ said Pires.
Pires, who was a key part of the Invincibles side that went the whole season unbeaten on their way to the title in 2004, also gave his support for his compatriot Olivier Giroud.
‘The people need to give Olivier time. I know he is a good player. It is very difficult to adapt from French football and everyone needs time, even Thierry [Henry] did in the first half of his first season at the club. I would tell supporters to relax. Olivier will score goals.’
