The French international is currently training with his former side as he seeks to gain fitness in anticipation of a move during the current transfer window.
The ex-Chelsea man, who joined Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua during last season’s January transfer windown, is reportedly in negotiations to terminate his current contract.
Anelka has not enjoyed his spell for the Chinese Super League side, despite being rumoured to earn in the region of £200,000 a week, falling out with fans and the club’s hierarchy, and is reported to be keen on a return to the Premier League.
Should he negotiate a successful release from Shenhua, he would be available on a free transfer, a prospect that has alerted a number of Premier League clubs.
QPR boss Harry Redknapp has spoken of his admiration for the former Real Madrid striker, and his club, backed by the wealth of Tony Fernandes, may be one of the few clubs willing to offer him a pay package remotely close to his current pay packet.
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce is also reported to be monitoring the situation, having managed Anelka during their time together at Bolton Wanderers.
