Ex-full-back says Wenger was wrong to spring for £32m man.
Former Arsneal defender Mikael Silvestre has told the club that they were wrong for signing £32 million man from Barcelona this summer.
The Chilean World Cup star has already succeeded in getting Gunners fans excited ahead of the new Premier League season as Wenger fought off interest from Liverpool to land his signature.
However, not everybody is so enthused by his arrival as Silvestre claims that he is not the kind of signing that the club should be making.
“Arsenal have already got that type of player,” he said.
“Quick, sharp, fast – they have enough of them already in Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla.
“Sanchez could have gone anywhere after his tremendous World Cup but I do not think he is the type of player the club need right now.”
Silvestre was another shock signing made by the north London side back in 2008, but was branded as a flop following two difficult years at the Emirates Stadium.
The former France international made 43 appearances for the club, scoring three goals.
He is now looking for a new club having been ditched by Major League Soccer outfit Portland Timbers.
