3. Matt Schaub is still in 2013 form
The Oakland Raiders are not getting what they thought they bargained for in quarterback Matt Schaub. Schaub had another forgettable preseason performance as he failed to complete half his passes or throw a touchdown, and he lost a fumble. Meanwhile, Matt McGloin continued to look solid and possibly sneak his way into the competition for the starting job. If the former Texans quarterback does not step up, the Raiders may have no choice but to bench him.
2. Robert Griffin III’s starting job is not secure
Griffin had another disappointing performance for the Washington Redskins, and backup quarterback Kirk Cousins continued to nip at his heels. The dual threat threw for 20 yards on 5-for-8 passing with an interception, and he also fumbled the ball.
Griffin has failed to reassure the Redskins that he can return to rookie form, and former Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann has even said that the Redskins should start Cousins. Cousins proved Theismann right for now by throwing two touchdown passes, and the Redskins lost by just six points. The outcome may have been different if Griffin performed better.
