Liverpool star Raheem Sterling has been quoted as saying his decision to reject a new contract offer at Anfield is not down to being a money grabber, suggesting he may have other factors in mind as he looks possibly set to leave the club.
The Daily Star reports that the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea are monitoring the 20-year-old’s situation at the moment, in what could be a sensational raid on the Reds for one of their best players this summer.
Why would Sterling want to leave Liverpool at this stage in his career? Here’s five reasons we think it’s justified…
1) He wants to play in his best position
It is well documented at the moment that Sterling has not been on top form since being moved into a wing-back position by Brendan Rodgers. Quite why the Liverpool boss would take such a talented player away from his best position as part of the attack is beyond us, but there’s no doubt the youngster could get his wish and play further forward at most other teams in Europe.
