Thiago Alcantara’s transfer from FC Barcelona to Manchester United could be announced in the next few days, according to two major Spanish publications.
Reports in Spain from two of the country’s major publications state that Thiago Alcantara will not be an FC Barcelona player for much longer.
Both Marca and AS claim that a deal to bring the Spain Under-21 international captain to Old Trafford is imminent.
According to Marca, the fact that Manchester United are willing to pay Alcantara £5 million per season and offer him a place as a regular first team starter is crucial, and something that FC Barcelona are not able to match.
Whilst the 22 year-old is considered a top class midfielder with great potential, with the likes of Sergio Busquets, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song currently ahead of him in the Camp Nou pecking order, Alcantara may have to find first team football elsewhere.
If Thiago is to be selected as part of the senior Spain international squad, being first choice for his club would be a huge help, and Manchester United’s promise of an important place in the team is likely the critical factor.
AS add that the Red Devils hope to confirm the transfer before pre-season training begins at Old Trafford, after positive reports on the Thiago’s attitude and off-field activities.
With that in mind, the deal could be sealed in the coming days.
