Once-promising Hawthorn recruit Dayle Garlett is in custody after allegedly stealing a car and committing an aggravated burglary while on bail.
Garlett left the Hawks in March, citing homesickness and an inability to meet the demands of professional football.
Police say the 20-year-old stole a car from a home in Caversham on September 13.
Garlett then used the car uring an aggravated burglary on a home in Greenmount, stealing electrical goods and clothing.
He appeared in the Midland Magistrates Court on Wednesday, charged with aggravated burglary, stealing and stealing a motor vehicle.
The events cap a fall from grace from the former Swan Districts player, who was highly rated before entering the AFL system.
