Colombian striker Radamel Falcao reportedly took a 50% pay-cut to join Chelsea.
The 29-year-old completed a season-long loan move to Stamford Bridge from AS Monaco earlier this week.
Falcao spent last season on loan at Manchester United, who apparently splashed out £25m in total for his regretful spell at Old Trafford.
United are believed to have paid Monaco a £6m loan fee, in addition to spending £285,000 a week on Falcao’s wages, as well as various bonuses.
However, Chelsea were not willing to match those wages and, as a result, Falcao will only be paid £140,000 a week by the Blues, according to the Daily Mail.
Falcao’s reputation took a bettering last season, as he scored just four goals in 26 Premier League games for United.
