Manchester United new boss Moyes is desperate to reunite with Everton stars…
Manchester United have had a mega £28m double bid for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines rejected by Everton, reports BBC Sport.
The Toffees have flatly rejected the offer, and appear unwilling to do business unless a bid closer to £40m is submitted.
United have been chasing midfield reinforcements all summer, and Fellaini is now a top target after the Red Devils failed to bring in either Thiago or Cesc Fabregas.
Moyes brought the Belgian powerhouse to the Premier League in 2008, and watched him develop into one of the best midfield enforcers in the country. As a result of his good form, and with his £25m get out clause expiring, new Toffees boss Roberto Martinez will expect close to £30m for Fellaini alone.
Baines is widely regarded as one of the best left-backs in the country, and is close to securing the first-choice left-back slot for England ahead of Chelsea’s Ashley Cole. Moyes wants to bring in competition for Patrice Evra in the position, and Baines would provide a younger, more dynamic alternative.
United strolled to a 4-1 away win in Moyes first serious match as United boss, allaying many fears that the squad was undercooked due to a lack of transfers. Everton drew 2-2 with Norwich, but will be desperate to hold on to their star duo with less than two weeks left of the transfer window.
