Harry Redknapp makes first signing as R’s boss.
HARRY Redknapp has added Tal Ben Haim to his squad ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup third round tie against West Bromwich Albion.
The Israeli international defender has signed a short-term contract until the end of the season and is eligible to make his debut when the Baggies come to Loftus Road tomorrow.
A free agent, Ben Haim has been training with Rangers for the last six weeks and Redknapp believes his experience and professionalism will aid the R’s squad in the second half of the season.
“Tal’s a great professional with vast experience and I’m confident he’ll be a really useful addition to the squad,” Redknapp told www.qpr.co.uk.
“His attitude is first class and the fact he can play anywhere across the back four is obviously a big bonus for us.
“He just wants to play. He’s not here for the money or anything like that. He just wants to come in and do his best for the club.”
Ben Haim has been handed the number 21 shirt.

Harry Redknapp has made his first signing at Loftus Road but, with Ryan Nelsen and Clint Hill, both 34, already on the club’s books, the acquisition of another defender the wrong side of 30 will hardly have Hoops fans jumping for joy.
Ben Haim does, at least, have a wealth of Premier League experience, having represented Bolton, Chelsea, Sunderland, Man City, Portsmouth and West Ham since moving to the Reebok Stadium from his native Israel in 2004.
That said, the versatile defender, 30, spent last season playing in the Championship and has not played competitive football for the best part of six months.
But the Israel international knows Redknapp’s methods having worked with him at Fratton Park and will know doubt be relishing the chance to help claw the R’s to safety under the guidance of his former mentor.
Redknapp is no mug and the tactician will know that his next signing must be a striker. While the Hoops have struggled to keep clean sheets, they have also been woeful in front of goal and, with Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson injured long-term, a new forward is a must this month.
