Cristiano Ronaldo set for meeting with Manchester United in coming days after taking offence to comments from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo will meet Manchester United in the coming days to discuss a transfer, according to Spanish publication El Pais.
The Portuguese goal machine has long been linked with a return to his former club, having as yet failed to agree an extension to his contract at Real Madrid.
Having scored an absurd 201 goals in 199 appearances for Real Madrid, Ronaldo has proven himself worthy of the £80 million outlay first spent on him – if anyone can really be valued at such a colossal price.
El Pais claim that Ronaldo was offended by recent public comments from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who stated that “everything has a limit” regarding the player’s contract talks, and felt that Perez was mocking him.
As a result, Ronaldo has agreed to meet Manchester United to at least discuss his options, though El Pais report that both parties have a pact that they will deny the arrangement if asked.
Perhaps the 28 year-old’s return to Old Trafford could indeed happen this summer.
