Chelsea may be without outstanding keeper for one more season.
Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has expressed his wish to remain on loan at Liga outfit Atletico de Madrid for at least one more season, reports talkSPORT.
The giant shot-stopper has incredibly still to feature for the West Londoners since he arrived at Stamford Bridge from Belgium first division giants Genk two years ago, moving immediately on loan to the Spanish capital for the start of the 2011/12 campaign.
And, the form of the Belgium international at the Vincente Calderon in the intervening period has been of such a high standard that Atletico head coach Diego Simeone has been desperate to keep hold of the keeper in Madrid.
However, Courtois has now spoken OF his desire to stay with the Spaniards next season, telling AS: “I am Chelsea player, but I am happy here. I’ll have to see what is best for them but I would be very happy if I stayed here for another year.
“I still haven’t spoken to Chelsea though. If I can’t play for them, then Atletico is the best club I can be at.
“It would be important for me and the club to make the Champions League next season. I am very happy here.”
