Argentine to now remain at St James’ until the summer.
Newcastle United have told club captain Fabricio Coloccini that he cannot leave the club for free to return home to Argentina during the January transfer window, say the Daily Mirror.

The Argentina international had informed the Magpies that he wanted to leave St James’ Park this month in order to be closer to his family, with a muted free transfer to Argentine first division outfit San Lorenzo being proposed.
However, during a meeting with club officials and lawyers this week, the centre back was told that the only way such a move would be possible would be if the 31-year-old bought out the remainder of his contract, a four-year deal worth £60,000 per week that he only signed last March, at a prohibitive cost of £7 million.
And, as a result, it is now believed that the defender will remain in the North-East at least until the end of this season and help Newcastle in their current plight to remain in the Premier League, starting with a huge relegation six-pointer against fellow strugglers Aston Villa on Tuesday.
