The 2013 winner is the odds on candidate to repeat last year’s feat.
The 2014 Cheltenham Festival starts on March 11 and whilst there is four days of racing, the big event will be Friday’s Gold Cup race.
This is the highlight of the National Hunt season and the most prestigious race in the jumps calendar, as the runners tackle 22 fences over a 3 mile course.
In its current format the Cheltenham Gold Cup has been in existence since 1924 and is one of the most famous horse racing events in the entire sport.
Big names have written themselves into the history books at the festival, with previous winners including Golden Miller, Cottage Rake, Arkle and Dawn Run. More recently the likes of Best Mate and Kauto Star have dominated the Gold Cup.
However, 2014 is all about Bobs Worth, as the runner is the reigning champion after winning the race in 2013 and will go into this year’s event as favourite as a result.
