Eden Hazard’s performance against Liverpool:
The Belgian was unarguably the best player on the pitch at Stamford Bridge yesterday, where Chelsea picked up a crucial three points against Liverpool.
Not only did he score a beautiful curling equaliser, but he consistently caused Liverpool’s defenders problems with mazy runs and trickery, and a succession of clever flicks.
Not only was he skilful in the final third, but his defensive work-rate was much to be admired.
Eden Hazard’s first half of the season by stats, courtesy of WhoScored:
The flying winger has started 18 of Chelsea’s 19 Premier League matches, and has been their most consistently effective attacking threat.
He’s scored eight (more than all of Chelsea’s strikers put together), and assisted four (more than anyone else in the Blues squad).
On top of this, Hazard has made 46 key passes in the final third, which is more than any other player in the Premier League.
He has also completed 67 successful dribbles, which again, is more than any other player in the Premier League – proving that at just 22-years-old, he’s already one of the best players in the country.
Hazard takes three shoots on goal per match, and completes 83% of his passes, which is an impressive ratio for a player consistently trying to create opportunities.
Following his performance against Liverpool, respected journalists and fans alike raved on Twitter over the young Belgian’s performance, too:
Did a piece on Eden Hazard and made him my MotM in my ratings. Even if Suarez is red-hot favourite for PotY, Hazard should be a contender.
