Colombian says he’d like to stay at the Vicente Calderon until at least next summer.
Chelsea have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao as he has indicated he wants to remain in Spain until the end of the season.
The 26-year-old Colombian striker is grateful to club president Enrique Cerezo for making him feel valued at the club by showing his determination to keep him.
Roman Abramovich was willing to pay the £48million needed to procure the striker from the Spanish capital but he is enjoying his time at the Estadio Vicente Calderon.
Falcao told reporters: ‘I recognise the great effort Enrique Cerezo has made for me to stay at the club.
‘And thank goodness our sporting results have been positive. We expect that to remain so until the end of the season.’

This news will come as a major blow to Blues owner Roman Abramovich and interim boss Rafa Benitez.
The Russian had his heart set on a January move for Radamel Falcao, who is perhaps the most coveted forward in Europe at present.
But Atletico Madrid’s excellent form appears to have persuaded Falcao to remain in the Spanish Capital until at least the summer. The Vicente Calderon oufit have managed to split the two Spanish giants, Barcelona and Real Madrid, and currently sit second in La Liga. Atletico’s lofty position is largely due to the former FC Porto man’s excellent goal-scoring form.
The 26-year-old has netted a stunning 20 goals in 16 matches in all competitions and if Diego Simeone can hold onto the goal-machine, Atletico have a good chance of securing a Champions League berth for next term, which could even convinced Falcao to remain at the club beyond the summer.
Chelsea will have to turn their attention to other possible January targets, including Barcelona’s David Villa, to boost the club’s push for an unlikely Premier League title, having been eliminated from the Champions League at the first hurdle.
