Eto’o appears to be in the group that is not a fan of the Spaniard.
Despite receiving plaudits for his management at both Barcelona and now Bayern Munich, Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o has criticised Pep Guardiola.
The 33-year-old played for a single season under the guidance of Guardiola before being sold to Inter Milan in the deal that saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic come the other way – interestingly another player who is not a fan of the head coach.
Eto’o had enjoyed four years of success at the Nou Camp before the 43-year-old took charge and had some choice words about his time under the Bayern boss.
“I was reminded when he arrived he had never been a great player,” the Cameroon international was quoted by Marca.
“I did a lot for the club. Guardiola made me play twenty minutes against Chivas and I scored three goals. Thereafter he never had the courage to say things to my face.
“I spoke many times to Pep and I explained at length that it was strange that he wanted to give me lessons on how to attack when he was midfielder I said.. ‘You’re not normal.’
“The real story is that Pep never saw these things in the world of football.”
Both Eto’o and Ibrahimovic had problems with the way Guardiola managed and both lasted just a year under the former Barca coach before being sold.
However, with three La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys, two Champions League wins and almost certainly trophy success with Bayern this year, the former midfielder’s tactics seem to be working.
