Schurrle has paid compliments to the Spaniard.
It was a great day for Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday as the side beat Manchester City 2-1 and Fernando Torres looked back to the striker’s best.
The scorer of the first goal in that tie – Andre Schurrle – has heaped praise upon the 29-year-old after Torres set up the German and then scored the winner in the 90th minute.
“It was a perfect afternoon for me and for the team because Fernando scored at the end and we won,” the forward told the Blues website.
“Fernando was very good. He was strong, he was fast, and I think we all saw that he is one of the best strikers in the world.
“I see him every day in training and he works really hard, so he deserved his goal.”
It was the Spain international’s first league strike of the campaign, but came in a week when the forward had also bagged two goals against Schalke 04 in the Champions League.
It was Schurrle’s first effort since arriving at Stamford Bridge this summer from Bayer Leverkusen and manager Jose Mourinho will be hoping it’s the start of things to come.
Last term the 22-year-old bagged 11 Bundesliga goals and seven assists whilst playing on the left flank for Leverkusen.
Schurrle is also a key figure in the Germany national team having earned 28 caps to date and scoring 11 times – including a hat-trick against Sweden in the recent World Cup qualifying campaign.
