Chelsea’s Brazilian battler won a 96th minute against the Baggies on Saturday…
Chelsea midfielder Ramires has claimed he didn’t dive to win a penalty against West Brom in Saturday’s Premier League match.
The Blues earned a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge with the Baggies, but needed a last minute penalty to do so.
Ramires has come in for serious criticism for the way he went down, with many believing the 26-year-old took a dive.
“I have never used diving to win fouls or penalties. It’s not in my character, and those who know me, know it very well,” Ramires claimed, however.
“I can guarantee that I was pushed by the opponent… This is being whipped up by people who are against Chelsea.”
Ramires trended on Twitter following the game, with football fans from rival clubs condemning the midfielder. His manager Jose Mourinho defended him though, claiming it was in fact a foul, and a penalty should have been given.
“Unfortunately for these people [those who do not like Chelsea] we continue to be unbeaten home,” Ramires continued.
“It was not the result we wanted, but after what happened in the game, we have won a point. There are plenty of games to go in the league. We will work to correct our mistakes and improve in the coming games.”
