The Ivor Coast international, who currently plays for Shanghai Shenhua, had been training with the West London club this month in order to be fully fit for the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, and that led some of the Chelsea hierarchy to believe that they were would be able to persuade the front man to re-join the club.
The Blues’ Russian owner, oligarch Roman Abramovich, gave the green light to re-sign the 34-year-old on an initial six-month deal until the end of the season, with an option of another year, however, it is understood that the forward will spurn Chelsea’s advances and instead opt to join Turkish giants Galatasary instead.
Gala are set to offer Drogba an incredible £6 million-a-year-deal, after tax, as well as the lure of playing in this season’s Champions League, where the Turks are set to take on Bundesliga outfit Schale 04 in the round of 16 next month, with the player believed to be keen to accept their offer, perhaps as soon as this week.
