Drogba hopes that Lampard will get a good reception when the two sides meet this weekend.
Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, who made his first start at Stamford Bridge since his return during the midweek draw against FC Schalke, has urged the club’s supporters to show respect to his former teammate Frank Lampard when the Blues face Manchester City this weekend according to the Mail.
Lampard joined Manchester City on a six-month loan deal this summer after agreeing a move to new MLS franchise New York City FC following his release by Chelsea and is set to line up against the club where he is the all-time leading goalscorer for the first time this weekend.
The likelihood is that Lampard will receive a fine reception from the traveling Chelsea fans, and Drogba, who was his teammate at Stamford Bridge for so long, certainly hopes that proves to be the case:
“He belongs to us. He is a Chelsea player, for what he did. He made the crowd shout and cheer his name and cheer for us, a lot of times here.”
