Carmelo racks up 26 points on way to inspiring New York victory.
The New York Knicks ran out comfortable winners over the Detroit Pistons at the o2 Arena in London.
Watched on by a host of Premier League stars, including Ashley Cole, Darren Bent and Clint Dempsey, as well as former Arsenal star Thierry Henry, the Knicks overran their Michigan opponents in the third NBA International game on British soil.
Making his first return to London since his gold-medal winning visit for the Olympics, Carmelo ran the Pistons ragged as he racked up eleven points within the first quarter alone to give the Knicks a 29-17 lead.
The Pistons were fighting a losing battle from then in and never really got into the game, trailing at half-time 56-41.
Many expected the game to be a close encounter with the Knicks having struggled for form recently while the Pistons have enjoyed somewhat of a revival under new coach Lawrence Frank.
That wasn’t to be however and the Knicks will cross the Atlantic the happier of the two sides.
