The Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills are 5-4 and tied for second place in the AFC East ahead of their vital clash at Sun Life Stadium on Thursday night.
The New England Patriots lead the way in the division by two games, however, more worryingly for these two teams there are 11 other AFC teams with winning records ahead of them.
Buffalo beat Miami 29-10 on September 14 behind five field goals from Dan Carpenter, and that was a third straight win for the Bills in the series.
On paper, the Bills remain a nightmare match-up for their rivals, but the Dolphins are 4-2 over their last six games and will hope that their good football and boosted confidence will make the difference come Thursday night.
Nevertheless, both teams arrive off the back of disappointing defeats last time out, with the Dolphins slipping to the Detroit Lions, while the Bills lost at home to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill has struggled against the Bills in the past, being held to a 12.7 total QBR against them which is the lowest of any team that he has faced.
In order to secure a much needed win, the offensive line will need to show an ability to protect Tannehill, who has now been sacked 13 times in their past three games which arguably gives the edge to Buffalo who have proven an ability to make big plays.
In contrast, Miami are one of just five teams with a top-10 pass and run defense, and they will hope to make their own plays defensively to win a low-scoring game.
There is plenty on the line for these two teams, and it should result in a thrilling Thursday Night Football game as the race for the playoffs continues.
