Hazard will sit out the clash with Steaua Bucharest with injury.
There is some bad news for Chelsea ahead of their Champions League group match with Steaua Bucharest as Eden Hazard will miss the clash with an ankle injury, reports the Mirror.
The Blues have flown out to Romania for their game in the top tier of European football, but the Belgium international has stayed behind in London after picking up an injury against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Despite being one of the six players shortlisted for the PFA Player of the Year prize in 2012/13, Hazard has not enjoyed the same form this time around.
The 22-year-old has been indifferent for the west London club since Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge and is one of several attacking midfielders failing to perform currently.
Hazard’s national team-mate Kevin De Bruyne started the season prominently after impressing last term whilst on-loan at Werder Bremen, but Mourinho was disappointed with the midfielder’s display in the League Cup last week and has ordered the Belgian to train with the reserves.
With the two stars absent from the Steaua match, out-of-favour Juan Mata will get a chance to start in the Champions League tie, having played well when brought on at half-time against Spurs.
It was Mata’s free-kick in the second half that provided a headed equaliser for John Terry and Mourinho may be forced to recognise that the Spaniard is a top talent.
Oscar has also been in good form in attacking midfield, although new signings Andre Schurrle and Willian are still yet to impress.
