Not long to go until the Premier League returns. Just 33 days in fact, but that still feels like a lifetime away.
Fortunately preseason is here now and we therefore at least have a few fun friendlies to keep ourselves mildly entertained.
Preseason has changed greatly in the past couple of decades. Gone are the games against lower-league local oppo and in are world tours and high-profile tournaments.
Some preseason tournaments are better than others. Below, we name the top three.
Sticking a few quid on a match is one way to make preseason games more entertaining, although using free bet offers to do so is even better.
3. Premier League Asia Trophy
Mixed feelings about this one. On one hand we are dying for Prem-on-Prem action. On the other, it feels kind of weird that two teams should play each other in a friendly weeks before they could potentially meet in a proper game.
A few years ago this tournament would have been no.1 on our list, but the lineup is pretty week compared to future editions – Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion, Liverpool and Crystal Palace battling it out this year.
2. Audi Cup
Atletico Madrid, Napoli, Bayern Munich and Liverpool in a two-day knockout tournament in Munich’s Allianz Arena. That is glamour.
1. Emirates Cup
We love the Emirates Cup for one reason – goals! Every single goal is worth a point in the fun-filled mini league which has been entertaining football fans in North London since 2007.
Benfica, Sevilla and Germany fairytale-makers RB Leipzig join Arsenal on this summer’s guest list.
