Busquets would be happy to see Reina at the Nou Camp.
Victor Valdes has confirmed that the goalkeeper will be leaving Barcelona at the end of the season and Sergio Busquets wants Liverpool’s Pepe Reina to succeed the stopper.
Busquets has become firmly established as a starting XI player at the Nou Camp and the midfielder believes Reina – who is currently on-loan at Napoli – would fit right in.
“He’s a great goalkeeper,” the midfielder was quoted by Sky Sports.
“If he comes it would be fine.”
There is a distinct possibility of this happening, what with the Reds having replaced Reina with Simon Mignolet at Anfield.
The Belgian has impressed since taking the gloves from the Spaniard and it seems as if the 30-year-old’s time on Merseyside is well and truly over.
The other realistic option for Barca would be Chelsea starlet Thibaut Courtois, who has been on-loan at Atletico Madrid for the past three seasons, although the 21-year-old is likely to fetch a high fee.
Reina on the other hand would not be as pricey and knows several of the Catalans’ key stars from spending time with the Spain national team.
It wasn’t long ago that the ‘keeper was regarded as the best No.1 in the Premier League and won three successive Golden Glove awards.
Indifferent displays last season led Brendan Rodgers to look for alternatives however and Mignolet was therefore purchased from Sunderland for £9m.
