Pedro does not want to draw either Premier League club in the last-16.
It’s been a good year for Premier League clubs in the Champions League as all four entrants have progressed to the last-16 of the competition.
However, things could be a little trickier for Arsenal and Manchester City as the duo finished as runners-up and therefore will face a winner from another group.
Yet this fear works both ways as Barcelona star Pedro admits that the Catalans desperately want to avoid the difficulty of playing an English club in the next round.
“It’s fairly obvious that Manchester City and Arsenal are the strongest teams we might be drawn against, and let’s hope we have a bit of luck and avoid those two,” the Spain international was quoted by Football Espana.
Barca cruised through their group with an eventual 15 points, beating Celtic 6-1 in their final match to ensure they head into the knockout phase on a high.
Having won the competition three times in the past decade the Spanish champions are among the favourites to lift the trophy, although they had a horrible wake-up call last term when Bayern Munich beat them 7-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals.
Since then the Catalonia outfit have changed managers and also acquired Brazilian superstar Neymar in a £48.6m deal – with the 21-year-old netting a hat-trick against the Scots on Wednesday night.
Yet with the Gunners going through a potentially tough group with 12 points and City matching Barca’s total of 15, it’s easy to see why Pedro fears the pair.
