Ramsey’s form for the Gunners has the Spanish giants interested.
As Arsenal continue their brilliant start to the 2013/14 season there is one player who has been noticeably their best star and that is midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
Now Spanish giants Barcelona are targeting the Welshman, who manager Arsene Wenger values at £50, according to the Daily Mail.
The two goals Ramsey bagged against former side Cardiff City in a 0-3 win at the weekend in the Premier League takes the 22-year-old’s tally for the campaign to 13.
This has also included the winning strike in a historical victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and the youngster has looked on top form whenever taking to the field.
It’s these performances that have prompted Barca to send their scouts to north London to keep an eye on the Wales international, as the hierarchy at the club evaluate their squad.
Although the Catalans have enjoyed unprecedented success over the past decade, new head coach Gerardo Martino has pinpointed some areas that need improvement.
Whilst a new centre-back and striker are on the wish list, with Xavi in the twilight years of the Spaniard’s career and question marks over the capabilities of Alex Song, central midfield is also open to recruitment.
President Sandro Rosell has listened to Martino’s demands and will make funds available for the Argentine to make new purchases.
Ramsey would be hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow countryman Gareth Bale should the midfielder make the switch to La Liga, with the ex-Tottenham Hotspur ace impressing with Real Madrid since a world record £85.3m transfer in the summer.
