The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Spain international and Goal.com claimed on Monday that the club’s chief contract negotiator Dicky Law was in Catalonia to thrash out a deal with the runaway La Liga leaders.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger poured cold water on the rumours at a press conference on Tuesday, stressing that Barcelona did not want to sell the 31-year-old and that there was no room for negotiation with the Spanish club.
And Tito Vilanova’s assistant Roura has reiterated that the former Valencia forward will not be leaving Barcelona this season.
“Rumours about Villa joining Arsenal? I don’t know anything about that. David will stay until the end of the season,” the 45-year-old told reporters ahead of tomorrow’s Copa del Rey semi-final with arch-rivals Real Madrid.
Villa is reportedly keen to leave the Nou Camp before Thursday’s transfer deadline, having started just seven of a possible 21 La Liga matches this season.
Wenger is thought to be an admirer of the Spain international, who has won the World Cup and European Championship with his country, plus various domestic and European trophies since joining Barcelona in 2009 in a £33m deal from the Mestalla.
