Ravens RB Ray Rice sat out Saturday’s preseason game as the team prepares for life without him for two games to start the 2014 season.
The Baltimore ravens defeated Washington 23-17 in Week 3 of the NFL preseason.
Even with star RB Ray Rice sitting out in the game and RB Bernard Pierce leaving early due to an injury, the Ravens were able to efficiently run the ball with RB Justin Forsett and later QB Tyrod Taylor.
Ravens QBs Joe Flacco and Taylor played efficiently in the passing game, combining for a 68.8% completion percentage and QB ratings of 107.2 and 124.8 respectively. Both QBs also added a passing TD and never allowed the team to give up the lead after Flacco’s TD pass to Steve Smith in the 2nd quarter.
Washington QB Robert Griffin III played terribly in the “dress rehearsal game” for Washington, going 5 of 8 for 20 yards and an INT while being sacked 3 times. He added another 3 yards on the ground on 3 carries and left the game with a passer rating of 27.1.
Washington backup QB Kirk Cousins was more efficient, going 14 of 20 for 122 yards and 2 TDs in the second half. Additionally, RB Alfred Morris, who struggled against the Browns on Monday, appeared to return to form with 29 rushing yards on 6 carries – a 4.8 yards/carry average.
