It’s a tale of two very different sides going into this Champions Trophy Group A match between fierce rivals Australia and New Zealand.

A slump in Australian cricket of late sees the Kiwis in the unusual position of being many cricket experts’ favourites going into this tie.

The Aussies lost their first match of the tournament fairly comprehensively at the hands of hosts England, whilst New Zealand made things hard for themselves and eventually triumphed in a tense low-scoring match with Sri Lanka.

Australia are in perhaps one of the lowest points in their illustrious cricketing history and with talisman-like captain Michael Clarke out with a back injury, things are only getting worse for the nation.

In contrast the Black Caps have just come off the back of a one-day series win over England in these conditions and despite failing to beat the Sri Lankans convincingly, they still took all the points.

Opener Martin Guptill looked strong against the Three Lions, although has failed to transfer that to this competition as yet, whilst the McCullum brothers of Brendon and Nathan look comfortable in the middle-order.

Australia meanwhile are not completely devoid of talent as bowlers Mitchell Starc and James Faulkner look like quality players, with Faulkner also being pretty useful with the bat.

The side will also be hoping that the skill they know Shane Watson can produce begins to resurface sooner rather than later.
