The final test between Australia and India is a dead rubber, after the Aussies drew the third test to keep a now unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. However, this will still be a big occasion, with the teams playing at the same ground where Phillip Hughes was fatally struck on 25 November. It will be an emotional occasion for all involved, with David Warner, Brad Haddin, Nathan Lyon, and Shane Watson all playing in the match when Hughes was hit.
The Indian side will be playing their first test since the retirement of Mahendra Singh Dhoni from the longest form of the game. Virat Kohli will captain the side, and will be hoping to make a good start to his tenure at the helm. He will have hopes of doing better than they have so far, with Australia paceman Mitchell Johnson ruled out of the match with a hamstring injury.
This is also likely to be Chris Rogers’ final home international, with the opening batsman likely to retire after the Ashes series in England.
