Ryan to train with Gers.
Central Coast Mariners goalkeeper Mathew Ryan will spend ten days on trial with Third Division Scottish outfit Glasgow Rangers, the Australian club has confirmed.
Ryan, 20, will miss one A-League match for the Mariners while overseas and is expected to return prior to the club’s derby with Newcastle Jets at home on January 19.
“I was in Scotland over Christmas and spoke with (Rangers manager) Ally McCoist about Mathew Ryan,” Mariners General Manager of Football Lawrie McKinna said.
“It is a credit to Mat and to our Club that Ally was well aware of Mat’s ability and potential and immediately offered for him to join Rangers for a training spell.”
“Mat is eager to take up the opportunity and we are sure he will learn a lot from the experience.”
Ryan has previously spent time on trial with Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur but failed to earn a permanent move to White Hart Lane.
