Villa set to make approach for Coutinho.
Aston Villa are looking to join the race for the signature of Inter Milan midfielder Phillipe Coutinho, according to The Daily Mail.
The young Brazilian is reportedly unsettled at the San Siro after having failed to make the impact on the first team he was hoping for.
The player remains highly rated across Europe, being comfortable with both feet, technically gifted and with an eye for a pass, and is reportedly unhappy with his progress at the Italian giants.
Coutinho now believes he has to ply his trade elsewhere if he is to fulfil his potential.
The 20 year old was linked with a £10 million move to Southampton recently and it appears Aston Villa are set to attempt to muscle in on the deal.
Villa are desperate for reinforcements after a poor first half of the season has seen them dragged into the relegation battle at the bottom of the table. They are currently one point above the relegation zone and Villa manager Paul Lambert believes Coutinho can provide the spark that is much needed in the midfield.
The player’s agent confirmed an approach has been made but nothing is settled at this stage.
‘I can confirm Aston Villa made an enquiry for Coutinho. They want him, but with all due respect for the proposal made to Phillipe, at this moment there is still nothing concrete to suggest an exit from Inter’ Cacau Barbosa told FC Inter News.
