The first of two series’ between these great cricketing nations is imminent.
Ashes tickets are available now.
Tension is high in the world of cricket as the most famous series in the history of the sport starts on Wednesday when England and Australia battle it out for the prestigious Ashes urn.
The five Test matches between the sides will begin at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, as the English prepare to host the series having won the previous two encounters on home soil.
In fact the Three Lions are the favourites going into this clash due to their superiority in recent years against the Australians, with three series’ wins out of four since 2005.
It is certainly a shift in dominance as up until Michael Vaughan led the side to their famous win against the Baggy Greens eight years ago, England hadn’t won in the Ashes since 1987.
It’s a bumper year for those who enjoy the contest for the most famous urn in sport as immediately following the series in Britain will be a follow-up Down Under starting at the end of 2013.
First though the Aussies have to contend away from home, with matches at Lords, Old Trafford, Chester-le-Street and the Oval proceeding the first battle at Trent Bridge.
