Midfielder keen to improve goal-scoring record.
Arsenal star Jack Wilshere is hoping his goal against Swansea is the beginning of an improved goal-scoring record for the midfielder according to the official Arsenal website.
The England international hit the back of the net with Arsenal’s winner in their FA Cup game with Swansea but that goal was just the player’s fifth in eighty appearances for the club.
Boss Arsene Wenger was delighted with the player’s goal and said he hoped to see more of the same in the future.
‘You can always improve in every area. He himself questions [his goal-scoring record]. The way he took the goal was fantastic, because he didn’t think too much. Sometimes you miss the chances when you have too much time’ Wenger said.
‘He took his goal in a spontaneous way. It’s good that he adds that to his game, because he gets in situations where you have to finish.’
Arsenal will be hoping to build on their victory when they make the short trip across London to play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The Gunners will be keen to grab a victory as they look to close the gap on the Champions League qualification spots after dropping points to Manchester City last weekend.
