It’s the first north London derby of the new Premier League season and as always there is much anticipation surrounding Arsenal’s match with Tottenham Hotspur.
Gone are the days when the Gunners were the dominant force in the area of the capital, with Spurs having improved greatly over the past few years and only missing out on beating their rivals to fourth place last term by a single point.
Tottenham have spent big this summer, as despite the impending departure of top-scorer and best player Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, six new faces have joined the club.
New director of football Franco Baldini has been working the Italian’s magic since being hired from AS Roma and the club record transfer fee has been broken no less than three times.
Erik Lamela and Vlad Chiriches are the newest acquisitions, having signed on Friday and both are eligible to feature at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners meanwhile are in stark contrast compared to their local rivals, having only brought in Yaya Sanogo and Mathieu Flamini on free transfers this summer.
This, coupled with injury problems that sees Lukas Podolski, Mikel Arteta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sidelined, means Arsene Wenger’s men face a tough challenge.
However, the side should not be written off easily and this is likely to be a close affair.
